New product from Cokotto Shop : Handmade hankies pack.

Hello my lovely readers,

Today I have some beautiful, exciting handmade for you!
This is a new product from CokottoHand, which are all 100% handmade by me....even the package are exclusively designed and handmade by me.

I have hankies pack of THREE, which are all made from soft 100% organic cotton (or designer cotton if you        
would like to make it from our fabric collection...can be arranged), and backed with soft, high quality cotton flannel for an extra softness feel and added absorbency. The packaging are made of paper so that it can be recycled later, and the hankies are of course washable for repeated use...so less use of tissues for you!

The hankies are suitable for babies, kids and adults alike. Would be perfect as birthday gifts, or baby welcoming gifts by combining it with our specially made baby bibs and blanket. They are made of cotton flannel which are suitable for daily use as well. I know that a hankie or a wipe cloth is a must for parents with babies and small kids. (I know I do!) There are always something to wipe off their little mouths or hands, or sweat after jumping and tumbling at the playground. These hankies looks so stylish for mummy to carry around in your purse!

Hello everyone,

I have with me today another piece of beautiful cotton fabric from Storyboek 2 collection, designed by Jay-Cyn Design.

The fabric has a soft look yet universal enough for almost everything crafty you could imagine. combination of the blue, coral and yellow with the white background give it a natural look that does not shout "Look at me!", but its uniqueness, will absolutely turn some heads to appreciate its beauty. The color combination make it unisex, totally appropriate for a girl or a boy. Playful raccoon in organic cotton by Rebekah Ginda for Birch Fabrics

Have you seen a nice yellow colored fabrics? I have...this one is not too striking, but looks beautiful, and a little bit cheeky with a cute raccoon there....It is 100% organic cotton, suitable for clothings, baby items, crafting, quilting...basically any sewing craft!

A simple tutorial - Throw pillow cover

As promised, today i am going to do a tutorial how to make a simple throw pillow cover. This tutorial is intended for anyone who does not have a serger at home, but would like to make their creation last long. In this tutorial I am going to use french seam.

Thing that you will need :

For the front part :
1 piece of 11"x11" fabric....A
2 pieces of 21"x6" fabric....B
2 pieces of 11"x6" fabric....C

For the back part (not in picture...forgot to take the pictures)
1 piece of 21"x6" fabric....D
1 piece of 21"x18' fabric...E

and scissors, threads, sewing machine....
ok now to the assembling process...

With the wrong sides together, sew one piece of C with A with 1/4" seam at one side of the 11" edge...then press the seams to flatten it. Trim to 1/8". Then flip the fabrics so that now we have the right sides together. Press again to flatten the fold.

Then sew the folded edge, 1/4 inch from the folding edge. Repeat this for the bottom part, using another C fabric. So then, you will have this.

OK? Now we are going to work with the long edges. Using the same method above, right side together attached the pice you just completed above with B fabrics....remember to press to reduce the bulk seam!Once you finished, you will get this! Put that aside first...as next we are going to work with the back piece.

So we are just going to hem the edges here. Hem one side (21" side) by turning in 1/4", press. Then fold another 1/2" and press. Do the top stitch to finish the seam. Like this. Do for both E and F fabric

Adjust both E & F pieces so that the total length is 21" and pin both side so that it won't move. Then take the first piece you have completed with the back piece. With the right side together sew up all 4 edges at 1/4" inch. Press, and trim to 1/8". Trim the corners too.

Turn it inside out, push the corners nicely, do not over poke ya...and sew all 4 edges with 1/4" seam.

Trim the corners, turn it inside out and do top stitching 1/2" seam or 1" seam which ever you like, for the finishing touches. Tadaa!Done! Then you can decorate your living room with it...\(^o^)/

A review of Birch Fabrics & Cloud9 Fabrics - organic cotton.

Just re- reading some articles regarding organic cotton, of its benefit in comparison with conventional cotton that we usually use. Will make a summary sometime later.

I do have some organic cotton in my shop from Cloud9 Fabrics and Birch Fabrics. Both are GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified. All collection from Birch Fabrics are using 100% premium organic cotton. Cloud9 Fabrics using 100% organic cotton with 3 of collection using 100% premium organic cotton.
Both are easy to sew, nice to wear, and looks absolutely beautiful!

So what is the difference between the 100% premium organic cotton and 100% organic cotton?

The premium are much more drapier, softer due to its higher amount of threads (Cloud 9 claimed their premium collections to be 200 threads). While the non-premium are the usual light weight cotton that we usually use (Cloud 9 use 100% cotton poplin). The premium is very much recommended for babies and kids (and adult too of course!), due to its extra softness which will feels good to the baby's skin.

For Birch Fabrics I currently has the fat quarters pre-cut from these two collection (limited quantity) :

New from Birch Fabrics ~ Storyboek II & Scamper

Finally, they had arrived !! yey!! I was soo excited and happy when I saw it (^,^)V
I am still impressed by its beauty and quality. I bought two sets of FQ pre-cut of these two collection, which one would be for myself, while the other sets I would like to let go.
So, limited edition ladies, as I have not made any order by bolt for these babies...
They are a bit expensive, so I am not sure if Malaysians would really buy it...so that is why as introduction bringing in the pre-cuts first.

I would be selling them RM16 per piece excluding the postage. It will be available in the online shop after raya holiday, hopefully if I am not soo busy with the Eid celebration.. Please leave a comment if you would be interested to order in yardage so that I can order by bolts. I would only order by bolts if total order from everyone is at least 8 yards for one pattern.

These would be perfect for making babies and children bedding, quilt covers and clothes...so soft and cute!.So if you are making any of the items I mention above, it would be perfect. Meanwhile, enjoy the pictures !!
